Oooops I missed: Soccer Nationals (July 21st-25th)

When the Cobras won the Regional Soccer Championships in late June, they were offered a berth at the National Championships in Denver.
The team worked very hard to earn enough money to get to go.
(Most of the players' flights and hotels were paid for).

On July 21st, Dave, Logan, Colby, and Javi set off for Denver.
It was a very exciting time!
Colby and Javi are in the back.

Dave was in charge of taking pictures so I don't have a whole lot to show.
Their first game was on Friday and it was live streamed so I actually did get to watch that one on my phone.

The Cobras did lose all of their games this weekend.
They played in the Super League and all the teams were much more aggressive, physical and muscular.  We were just no match for the teams we played against.
This was their official team photo.
Dave said every team had multiple players that were Logan's height plus 50 pound of muscle.

Logan did not come home upset or discouraged.  It was a very good and humbling experience to see the talent in other parts of the nation.

But Dave and the boys had a really great time in Denver too.
The whole group
They rode the subway into downtown Denver
They visited the Pepsi Center where the Denver Nuggets play basketball
Logan and Dave made their way to Mile High Stadium where the Broncos play.
They kept walking to make it here, even in a downpour.

Both Dave and Logan really liked downtown Denver.

Because they had lost, they did not have a game on Sunday so Dave decided to rent a car and drive to   Pike's Peak.

I think this is the most memorable part of their trip to Denver.
Dave is not a timid driver but it was so scary to him (especially the parts with no guard rails) that he turned around at about 13,000 feet and came back down the mountain.
He was white-knuckling it and the boys had their windows down with their hand out yelling, "woo hoo" for most of the ride.
Logan said Dave dropped a few F-Bombs along the way!

They traveled home on Monday with no hardware but lots of fun memories.
