Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 4 (2026)

 Day 22, Thursday, January 22nd

Harper and I flew out of the Pasco Airport today.
We're headed to Denver Colorado for a volleyball tournament.

Day 23, Friday, January 23rd

We got in last night about 9 PM  and got to our hotel.
We didn't play until 3 PM today so we took a beautiful, sunny brisk walk around downtown Denver.

Day 24, Saturday, January 24th

Harper received the Player of the Game chain today!
She had a great tournament, and after starting 1-2 on Friday, they rallied today to go 3-0.

Day 25, Sunday, January 25th

Finished our tournament this morning!

Day 26, Monday, January 26th

Facetiming with Ry today.
He was walking back to his dorm from the gym and showed us the bridge all lit up.

Day 27, Tuesday, January 27th

After flying home Sunday afternoon and getting in at midnight so Harper could go to school on Monday, she was out with a cold, cough, and stuffy nose on Tuesday.

Day 28, Wednesday, January 28th

We had lunch in Harper's school parking lot today.
She's not feeling 100% yet and asked us to bring her some warm soup for lunch today.
(Dave has had some odd Wednesdays off due to scheduling issues at the hospital)

Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 3 (2026)

 Day 15, Thursday, January 15th

Harper's final test in personal finance.
Schmoozing with her teacher (she got an A in the class)

Day 16, Friday, January 16th

Harper had a half day of school because of the end of the semester so we decided to drive to Newberg for Ry's weekend games.
We picked him up after the loss and took him to Panda Express and dropped him back off.
Presley and Kel came to the game too, but they left right afterwards.

Day 17, Saturday, January 17th

Bringing Ry a coffee this morning before his pre-game shoot around.
After the game

Day 18, Sunday, January 18th

Harper had volleyball practice at noon today so we drove home and got in early this morning.
After practice she hung out with friends--no school tomm for MLK.

Day 19, Monday, January 19th

On Friday night after Ry's game we were all walking back to the car.
I had the bright idea to jog around the track heading out to the parking lot.
Dad and Harper took off and I thought it would be funny if I cut across the track and beat them.
I let them go ahead and then I took off and I slipped in some sand from the long jump pit and totally bit it and rolled my ankle.
Harper said she heard me squeak out "Dave, I fell" when she turned aorund to find me.
This was actually Saturday morning in the hotel.
And on Monday morning Dad wrapped my ankle up for support and compression.
I was hobbling along for the next few days.

Day 20, Tuesday, January 20th

Ry's team played on Tuesday and they got a WIN in overtime!
Their record is 2-14....Yikes.

Day 21, Wednesday, January 21st

Dave's been bowling the last few weeks to step in for a regular team member who is working on repairing Highway 2 into Leavenworth from the rain/mud slides that happened in December.
He bowled good the first week, not so great last week, and then got 2 announcements last night for high scorer for his 212 and 208 games.

Welcoming 2026!

The last week has been all about the finale of Stranger Things

The finale was at 5 PM on New Years Eve so I made them a charcuterie board so they wouldn't have to text me for snacks.
None of them really cared for how it wrapped up.
We called Logan the next day and he was watching in bed and said the same thing.

New Years Eve together

Sparkling Cider at midnight
We tried to watch the King 5 News countdown but it was so foggy in Seattle they had to cancel the fireworks/drone show.

Made it to midnight and went outside to watch the (illegal) fireworks in the distance.

Joe and Lanae had their annual New Years Eve party.

New Years Day:
Thursday, January 1st
1st breakfast always includes year pancakes
These 3 made a run to Target
They facetimed me to show me their efforts to get Harper out of there and Kel sent me a HELP message
Harper's been animal/house sitting for her friend and had to bring their garbage cans back up their long driveway.
Harper's new friend Ollie.
There was also Bruno and Bunny.

Dave and I decided to leave on January 2nd to go to Ry's games this weekend in the Tacoma area.
They played Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
Logan and Corbin joined us on the first night.

We stayed the night and met with Logan and Corbin for lunch.
Corbin suggested Cutter's Coffee for a stop before Ry's second game.
They didn't go to that game, but we texted them a pic of us with our afternoon drinks.

We drove home after his game on Saturday and got back about midnight.
On Sunday, January 4th, Kel and Presley headed back to Portland.
They both had work this week.  Presley's school started the 12th.

We tried to pack up Chewy for them :)

Dave giving "the talk" to Chewy that Monday was going to be an early and tough morning.

Dave's been going through some of Papa's old files and photo albums and ran across this school picture of him.  He doesn't remember wearing this Cowboys shirt and he's guessing that might have been his 3rd or 4th grade year.
Dad's friend Troy is a big Cowboys fan and he sent this AI generated picture (its actaully a video) to Troy and Kevin when Dallas didn't make the playoffs this year.
