Rylan has never been to a sleep over before.
He's had friends stay the night here, and has stayed with family, but he just hasn't had a whole lot of exposure to sleeping away from his own bed and home.
I started making summer plans in the spring and offered a camp to Rylan and he thought it would be great fun.
He went to Camp Zanika at Lake Wenatchee for 4 days and 3 nights from July 6th through the 9th.
Logan drove us the whole way (the girls had acting camp for the day).
Dave face timed us so he could say good-bye to Rylan.
I had never been up in that area and it was a beautiful drive.
Getting ready to check in.
Rylan was put in the Pluto cabin. I thought the cabins were Disney character named, but no, they were all planet names. Pluto was the furthest one away from the kitchen/dining area.
Rylan was the first one from his cabin there so he got to pick his bed. He chose the top bunk.
Logan helped him lay out his puppy blanket and sleeping bag and got his pillow all situated.
Dave woke up bright and early to pick him up on Sunday. We missed our Ry!
Our first look at him in 4 days!
He wanted pictures with all his cabin mates, and he high fived all the girls from the other cabins.
Saying good-bye took a few extra minutes.
It was so fun to hear all the fun stuff he did.
Swimming in Lake Wenatchee--it's very cold water so I was very surprised he swam in the lake.
Archery Lessons
Horseback riding--his horse was named Tango
Ropes Course
Learned to start a fire
He took only one shower.
I left him with $25.00 in his camp account and he bought a stuffed frog animal, a soda, a candy bar, goggles, and a disposable camera (he must have known his mom would want pictures, none of them turned out).
He really loved the camp and wants to go back next year for the full five day camp.
We stopped at the Candy Shop in Leavenworth to buy some taffy on our way home.
When we got back home and started unpacking, he told us he won the "Best Farter" award.
Just when I think he's all Nelson, he'll surprise me with some random Legard/Kreider trait (everyone was pretty impressed with this award)!
Later that evening, snuggled up on the trampoline telling Harper all about Camp Zanika
It was a wonderful experience for Ry!
