Dave, Logan, Rylan, and 18 more teammates, coaches, and other parents travelled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the National Soccer Tournament from July 12th through the 16th.
Saying good-bye and good luck!
Meeting spot in Wenatchee, ready to load up, and headed to Seattle!
It was a tough flight itinerary, leaving from Seattle for the red eye flight at 11:00 PM, only to be delayed until 1:15. Then, upon arrival in Chicago, missed their connecting flight, but that plane had mechanical issues and was delayed, so they made it to Indianapolis at about 10:30 in the morning.
30 minute drive to the hotel and another 15 to the soccer field.
And their first game was at 3:00 PM.
Whew! But they made it to Grand Park and after playing the first half against Manhattan, had a 3 hour delay because of severe rain and lightning.
They did end up losing that game.
It's hard to miss big games and tournaments, but I am thankful for texting and face timing so I can be pretty up to date on what's going on.
After their first game-a loss to a Manhattan team.
The following day our Cobras played against a Oklahoma team and won that one 2-1!
It was so great to get a win at the National level. The parents, coaches, and players were so thrilled with this win.
This is the Oklahoma team.
Dave said were no other goalies in that age group as tall as Logan.
The third game was an interesting one because in order to advance to the semi-finals, we had to win, and we needed Manhattan to lose. We could not tie, and we also had to rely on Manhattan to lose and not tie.
We played against Armada, a team from Jacksonville, Florida.
They were actually staying at the same hotel as our boys.
Dave talked to one of their parents and they were complaining about the size of the pool they have to select from. He said, "we only have about 900,000 to choose from" and asked Dave what it was like in the Seattle area. Dave said, "well, were not from Seattle, and our pool is about 40,000".
That shut him up pretty quickly.
Team meeting before this big game.
They WON again today, 2-1!
I appreciated Dave's texts about not celebrating!
Logan took a beating in this game. There were some very strong and physical players.
Manhattan lost badly and we were in the semi-finals on Sunday!
That night, they hung out at the mall for a while.
Ry wanted a picture with all the cars.
The semi-final game was against a San Jose, California team, the Earthquakes.
It really wasn't much of a game, we got beat 2-6.

Dave actually enjoyed watching this team, they were so smooth and efficient, and just plain good.
He later learned that this team was already ranked Number 1 in the Nation.
He predicted that they would win the tournament, and they did on Monday morning.
After their loss they knew they had another early Monday morning flight so they went out to eat and stayed at the hotel.
The boys decided to play a game of basketball and one of Logan's players elbowed him in the eye.
He vomited at the hotel and Dave almost took him to the ER (he was worried about concussion), but with a flight leaving in only a few hours, he decided not to.
A picture I took when he got home.
The redness took a few days to go away, but he had a black eye for about a week.
I loved our group text---after our loss in the semifinals they all were trying to justify a 2nd or 3rd place finish! Ha ha!
Rylan at the airport for a 5:30 AM flight.
I saw this on the PSPL website.
The boys made it home about 4:30 on Monday afternoon.
Super exciting week of soccer! Logan's ready to go again!
