Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 5

Day 29, Wednesday, January 29th
Our first official snow of the year.
This was taken in the afternoon when the sun had made its way out, but it was still too cold to melt any of it.  The kids went outside right after school and sledded for an hour.

Day 30, Thursday, January 30th
I had forgotten to take a picture earlier in the day.
This was after basketball practice, about 8:30.
All the other kids were asleep so Logan, Mom and Dad
sat down for a bowl of chocolate ice cream and talking.
I love moments like this.

Day 31, Friday, January 31st
Presley had a playdate with her good friend Kylie.
The played out in the snow and I delivered
fresh from the oven cookies outside to them.

I had to include 2 pictures for today.

We wanted to reward Logan for making great grades this semester and he had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon to have a wart removed so he played a little hooky with Dave and they spent the morning/early afternoon skiing on Mission Ridge together.  Dave texted me that he couldn't keep up with our boy.

Day 32, Saturday, February 1st
As soon as we drove into Richland to go to the Father/Daughter Dance, Harper announced she had to go potty.  So we quickly found a place to stop for lunch.  We ended up at Casa Mia.  Ry had a very, very cheesy pizza.  A sweet older couple stopped by our table to tell us they enjoyed watching Ry try to eat his pizza without making a mess.

Day 33, Sunday, February 2nd
Peyton Manning and the Broncos lost in the Superbowl.
We had very little to cheer about today.

Day 34, Monday, February 3rd
I was talking to Ry about Valentines and what he wanted to give out this year.
He had forgotten what Valentines were so after I explained to him that you get sweet messages
from people you care about, he wrote this to me.
I love you mom and I love kisses and you tucking me in.
Oh, that Ry...he knows just how to wiggle into my heart.

Day 35, Tuesday, February 4th
While Logan was at basketball practice, Presley and I ran to Target and bought Valentine Dove chocolates.  Mine said, Watch the sun come up.  I have made a very intentional effort to be up early this school year and I do see the sun come up quite often.
Presley's said, Laugh until your heart overflows.  We have always loved her sweet laugh.

Superbowl Sunday Sadness: Denver vs. Seattle

Our little family was pretty pumped for this game, and after the season our favorite player Peyton Manning had we felt pretty good about our chances against an outstanding Seattle defense.

Early in the day Logan said, "you guys always tell me:  offense wins game, defense wins championships"....that may have been a premonition of things to come.

We filled out our grid and each chipped in $5.00.
And then the game started, and it was pretty much downhill from the very first snap.

So at halftime Dave tried to switch to Manning's Indianapolis Colts jersey to change the direction this game was clearly going.
And that didn't help either.
By the third quarter the kids were playing polygons and Presley had retired to her room.

And it was over and it was never even really a game.
Seattle was the Superbowl Champions.

And I think I can become a fan of Russell Wilson.
He seems like a good, young player.
I think he's got a great future.
And I do like him.
And maybe he'll have some Nelson fans at some point.

But we're Peyton Manning fans.
To the End.
(Or until he retires)

Harper and I were able to celebrate a small victory.
We were the money winners from our family pool.
Great family day!!

Hermiston AAU Tournament: January 25-26

Dave had his National Sales Meeting in San Diego and left on Thursday so I was on my own for the week-end.  I was actually really looking forward to this tournament because last year we took home the championship.  We did not have a game on Friday night so we drove down on Saturday morning, making a quick pit stop at Grandma and Papa's house before Logan's first game in Hermiston.

The first game versus Zillah was a close one but we won by one.  We were actually pretty far ahead and they were just able to slowly gain on us.  Bob, Tona, and Papa Berries were able to come to this game.

The second game on Saturday was versus Sagebrush (a Tri-Cities team) and Wenatchee crushed them by about 30.  My mom, Cristy, Joe and Lanae made it to this game.  Logan's cousins Mathew and Emily were both playing in this tournament too and it worked out to see plenty of the kids' games this week-end.

One of our regular players had to miss this tournament so Colby was moved up to play.  I was thankful cause I knew that meant his dad Kelley would get a couple of good pictures of Logan.

On Saturday evening we went out to have a team dinner and back to the hotel for a big (and crowded) swim party.

Sunday morning we had a game and we had to play Zillah again.  Grandma and Papa and Papa Berries were able to come to this game.
Ry played a lot of his Kindle this week-end.  This is one of the few times I saw his eyes!!

Unfortunatley, we lost this game and we ended up playing for 3rd or 4th.  It was a tough loss but Wenatchee came back to destroy the Hermiston Dogs.

Logan didn't play too well this game--he ended up fouling out!!  He came off the court with his head hung low.  It was kind of a long ride home!!

Father Daughter Dance: 2-1-14

We traveled to the Tri-Cities on Saturday afternoon so that Dave, Presley, and Harper could attend the annual Father Daughter Dance.  We arrived a few hours early so that Samee could take me to see her wedding dress and the wedding and reception location (both gorgeous).  We went over to Amy and Thomas' house at about 4:00 to start getting ready.  Amy was already doing Mylee's hair and Alyson was deciding on the hair-do she wanted.  Presley let me curl her hair and Harper did too, for a few minutes, and then she'd run off to play and then come back for some more curls.  Her hair did not turn out quite as I had envisioned, but they both looked very cute.  Presley was super excited for the dance.  Daddy and Thomas got ready, Cristy, Nate, Samee, Miryn and Papa Berries came over, and we took a ton of pictures before they left.

Cousin Love

Miss Miryn was there too and showed us her new trick of rolling over.

Amy had a bottle of sparkling cider to toast the evening.
A certain four year old drank a lot of "joosh" this night.
The pretties with Papa Berries
Love these girls
Thomas with his growing up girls.
Foot pop for Tricia
These girls love their Daddy!!
The theme of the dance was Masquerade Ball
Dave texted me this picture from the dance.
Papa always gets to do the music for the dance.
Grandma, Cristy, Amy, and me and the boys watched a basketball game (Heat vs. Knick, Heat won) and had tacos and then went for a treat from Dairy Queen.
Ry played games on Amy's phone.

Dave, P, and H made it back home about 9:30...Harper was DONE!
Presley let Grandma put on her mask...
and we giggled ALOT.
Dave texted this picture to Thomas and Amy that he hadn't seen this bird in the Tiki Room in Disneyland to which Thomas replied it's an endangered species.
We drove back home, kids fell asleep in the car and we drove in about 11:50.
Lots of laugh, lots of fun, and great memories made!!
