Kreiders In Spokane

On Friday, March 22nd, the Kreiders took a day trip to Spokane.
We went on a walking/eating tour downtown, went through the Bing Crosby museum at the Gonzaga Campus, played virtual reality games at HIVE, and finished the day with a meal at Spokane's Melting Pot.  It was the most beautiful day there.

We started our day at the big red wagon at Riverfront Park.
The tower clock

This was one of our stops for a sampling of tacos.

Papa took this picture and sent it to Rylan.
Inside Bing Crosby's childhood home

I did not know that Bing had won an Oscar
We had a few minutes so we walked a little bit on the Gonzaga Campus.

Our last activity was HIVE virtual reality.

I really enjoyed this but we were definitely playing some easy games and it took us a while to get the hang of it.

Then we finished the evening at The Melting Pot
Five Kreiders!

Wenatchee World Soccer Articles (Logan, 2019)

I thought I better have record of the high school soccer season as reported in the Wenatchee World.  I don't know how often they'll run an article.  Hopefully, I'll be able to add to this as the season goes on.

The complete Wenatchee vs. Davis game.  It's a little longer because of senior night.  The announcers talk about Logan at the 11:30 minute mark (before the game starts).  Logan saves at game times of 30:45, 31:15, and he gets a yellow card after the game stops at 38 minutes.   It's hard to see, but he's undercut by a Davis player (Davis player gets a yellow card), but then Logan shoves him so he gets a yellow card too.   At 73:35 game time he makes a nice catch, and  then at the 81:50 minute the announcers are talking about Davis wanting to take it to penalty kicks and one of them says "If they knew who they have behind the pipes, I'm not sure they'll want to take it to penalties ."

Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 10 (2019)

Day 64, Tuesday, March 5th
So tired of the winter yuckies!

Day 65, Wednesday, March 6th

Such a nice email that came today about Ry from his science teacher.

Day 66, Thursday, March 7th
Presley's basketball awards banquet was tonight.
She was given the Panther Award for the freshman team tonight.
The coach explained it was given to the girl that was a great teammate, a committed player, a hustler, a good friend, a listener, and one that never gave up.
I loved that he had such kinds words to describe our Presley!

Day 67, Friday, March 8th
Logan taking the field for his first soccer game of the season!

Day 68, Saturday, March 9th
A little chilly on the bleachers today during Logan's game.
Two wins to start the season!

Day 69, Sunday, March 10th
We went to see Captain Marvel today.

Day 70, Monday, March 11th
Another Nelson down!  UGH!
Spring, please come soon!!!

A Snowy Start to Spring Soccer

Logan started soccer tryouts on February 25th.
His first varsity game was on Friday, March 8th.
(The jamboree scheduled for Wednesday, March 6th was cancelled because of another snowfall that lasted all. day. long)

They played Mead, a non-league game.
The game was at 7:00 and it was about 30 degrees.
But we were thankful to get a game in and felt lucky that we have a field that is being plowed and maintained.   Many other teams (including the track, baseball and golf teams) are not so lucky.
During warm ups--you can barely see the white ball in Logan's hands.
There was dark tarp laid across the mound of snow behind the goals so players could see the white net/bars of the goal.

Lining up to be called out as a starter.

Taking the field in his first varsity game.
Logan later told us that he did feel a little nervous for the first 20 minutes of that game.
I think he had maybe 2 saves, he wasn't very busy back there.
His kicks looked good though.
Logan was told that he would only be playing a half of the game, but it was tied 0-0 at half.
We were surprised when he took the field at the start of the 2nd half.
And they won 1-0.

The game ended at about 9 and they had to be back on the field at 9 the next morning.
(Eastmont had a game too that needed to be played on our turf field so they rescheduled times.)
Bundled up and ready to go.

They played the Central Valley Bears at 11 AM.

The rest of us in the stands.
It was about 30 degrees but if felt a lot more bearable with the sun shining.

Logan was scored on with this penalty kick.
It was 1-0 for a little bit in the first half, 1-1 at half, and the Panthers won 2-1.
Logan was much busier today and had a lot of good saves.

Rylan had his first game of the "spring" season too.
They lost today 0-2.
They looked like a team that hadn't played together in a while (their practices have been inside a gym).
It'll just take a little time to get back in sync and we really need the snow to melt so we can start practicing on our home grass field).

I thought Ry played okay, and I was happy that he said he didn't feel tired because of the basketball conditioning.
Dave at halftime, trying to stay warm.

We're looking forward to a much warmer spring season in the coming weeks.
