Basketball and Robotics! (Lots of pics)

All the kids went back to school on Wednesday, January 2nd.
Presley had a game that evening vs. Eastmont.
They won by a lot.

She had 6 points tonight.
And played great defense and hustle!
They won by a lot.

Both the girls and boys freshman played on Wednesday night because the Varsity and JV boys and girls played in the Town Toyota Center on Friday night.

Logan played 2 quarters on JV tonight.
He had 6 points.

He had told us that he had been practicing with the Varsity this week and he split his time between JV and Varsity tonight.

With Varsity, waiting for the varsity girls to finish.

Warm Ups

Taking the court as his name was called.

He came in in the 2nd quarter, subbing in for his friend Riley.

During a time out.
Playing a little defense.
He didn't have any points, but he did play good defense.

Wenatchee Varsity did win 52-50.

Rylan had his first Foothills Robotics Tournament on Saturday, January 5th in Ellensburg.
He told me that I should follow the bus there.
The bus left at 6:45 AM so that didn't happen, but we did get there about 12:30.

One of the basketball moms texted me the morning of his competition.
I think she knows us well :)

His first match...
I know nothing about robotics, but I learned a little bit while I was there.
Each round is only 1 minute long, and the partners switch off on the driving mid-way through.
As the time gets close to done, each team tries to get their robot to hang from the bar.
You can park it underneath the bar, you can lift it so that the wheels are almost touching the ground, or you can get it to hang.  Hanging is worth the most points, and you get an additional point if one of the orange hubs can slide underneath it.
Ry was able to get his robot to hang from the bar.
This was a good move.

We went back and Ry explained his team's robot to Dave and Harper.
 This was his second match.
They did something well.
Ry's doing a fist shake.
Pretty pleased leaving the playing fields.
Ry's team placed 18th and the top 16 go to the final round so they just missed that opportunity.
The final matches were fun to watch.

Ry finished his robotics tourney about 3.
Dave drove on to Yakima to watch Logan and Presley play at Eisenhower.
Harper, Ry, and I drove to Moses Lake because Ry's AAU team was playing in a tournament there.
(He had missed the morning game, but we could make it for the 5:30 game).

Ry's team did win on Saturday evening.
This is who Ry had to guard in Saturday's game.
He was a good player, and Ry played him tough.
Sixth grade boys vary a lot in size.

Grandma and Papa showed up in Yakima to watch them play too.
They both had great games tonight!
Logan moved up to Varsity again tonight, but was not put in. Varsity did lose tonight.

Ry's tourney finished on Sunday with 2 more games.
He played Ellensburg in the morning and Cascade in the afternoon.
They lost to Ellensburg by 4.

I think he made the pass here and got the assist.
Ry got lots of playing time vs. Cascade.
He had 12 points this game.
