Logan's Arizona Soccer Tournament

Logan travelled with his EPD soccer academy team at the beginning of January.
We got back from Hawaii on the 2nd, he went to school the 3rd, and then Dave took him to Spokane to fly out with his team on the 4th.
He was in Phoenix from the 4th to the 8th.

He received his uniform at the Spokane airport.

The EPD team right before going through security.

Dave dropped him off at 8 AM and just turned around and came back home.
It was a quick good-bye.

The team manager sent us daily e-mail updates and pictures, but we had already heard from Logan about the outcome of each game before the e-mail was sent.

On their first day they did get to tour Grand Canyon University and its field and locker rooms.
The head soccer coach spoke the team about the program and collegiate soccer.
Logan really liked this part of the trip.

They lost 2 games, tied one game, and won one game.
So they did okay as a team.
Logan gave up 3 goals (of the 8).
He didn't get to start all the games tho, and that's always a bit hard for Logan.
That's not uncommon in these tourneys.  They give equal playing time to all the players, and the goalies each play one half of the game.

But I do appreciate his confidence when he does start...

Logan is on the left side of the refs, 2nd person in.

The most difficult part of the whole tournament was the pick up.
Dave was supposed to go get him as I was home with a sick Rylan.
But he got called in for a trauma and I ended up taking Ry and picking up Harper early from school to come along.  Presley had a ride home from basketball tonight.

The flight was supposed to land in Spokane at 4 and when I was in Moses Lake, Logan called to tell me they were in Seattle but there would be a delay.
Then he called back and said it would be a 3 hour delay.
I kept driving on and it was getting foggier and foggier.
At the Lind rest area I pulled in to see if  could find a spot on the 6 PM flight from Seattle to Wenatchee, and I was able to.  I booked it for Logan, called him to tell him to get to the right gate, talked with the team manager to ask him to walk Logan that way.
And I turned around and drove back to Wenatchee.  We arrived at 6:25 and the flight landed at 6:40.
(This is also the story of Logan's first flight alone).

At the Wenatchee Airport, as he saw Ry.
That's Harper's head.

Back in Arizona, he had checked his bag (at the team manager's request), so Dave and him drove to George to pick it up the next week-end.  Another coach was nice enough to meet us there as he was making his way to Seattle.

And last night, we received this link to a youtube montage video of the tournament.
Logan shows up in a few places.
Sometimes it was hard for me to tell if it was Logan as goalkeeper but I think he's at minutes 1:15, 3:27, 3:34, 3:50, 6:18, and 8:32.
