December Days

On December 1st Presley, Harper and I went to see the Stage Kids' production of "Bah Humbug".
Harper ran into one of her friends in the photo booth area.

Harper liked picking out Christmas books to read.
Presley went and volunteered in Harpers classroom one morning.
Mrs. Gale loves the Nelson girls.
Rylan had his violin Christmas performance.
And his 5th grade musical performance too.
The performance was "Children of the World" and they were supposed to dress as a student from another country.  Rylan chose Australia.
He was asked to present flowers to his violin instructor at the end of the show.
Rylan with Mrs. Martinez, Sunnyslope's music teacher.
Dave tried to teach these two how to play "Hearts".
Dave took the kids to pick out their 2017 ornament.
And I used this time to start wrapping.
Presley had her 8th grade choir concert.
Sunnyslope had jammie day.
Foothills and Wenatchee High had ugly sweater day.
This was Ry's last Sunnyslope Sing-A-Long day.
He got to be the sound technician during it. (He changed the songs on the big screen so everyone could sing along with the words scrolling on the big screen.  I wouldn't refer to his job as the sound technician but that's what Mr. Perkins said when he thanked Rylan for doing it).
And when Santa showed up, he gave Ry his jingle bells to shake around.
Ry had to leave his post to be one of the leaders to teach "Silent Night" in sign language.
He stood up in the front with 4 girls and did the ASL version of "Silent Night".
I have it on video on my phone.
Waiting in line to give Santa a high five and receive a candy cane.
Ry's last year with Sunnyslope's Santa.
Santa came to Harper's classroom and Harper read her letter to him.

Harper did a Hip Hop Holly-Daze dance camp at the high school.
When I dropped her off prior to their half time performance, she went and sat with the big girls and was helping them pick out their spring uniforms.

Presley, Harper, and I spent a day baking at Amy's.
We love Miryn!
Amy, Thomas, Alyson, Mylee, Grandma, and Papa Berries did the The Cable Bridge Run.
Grandma placed first in her age group for the 1 mile walk.
And Papa placed third in his age group (beat by 2 80 year-olds)
Ry had his last rec leave basketball game of the year!  A win to finish the season!
An Air Force pilot went rogue and drew this with his jet in the sky above Okanagon (this made National News).
Dave knows a few people who grew up in the area so he ordered ornaments to give to them.
We finished that 1000 piece Christmas puzzle.
Unfortunately we lost one piece so we finished a 999 piece puzzle (I even went back to Shopko where I bought this on Black Friday to buy another, but tried to buy another but they were all out).  It's hard to tell on this picture but the missing piece is in the middle of the two trees between the big chimney brick house and red house.
Harper and I got pedicures and Presley a manicure to get us ready for Hawaii.
We got just enough snow to do a little sledding this week.
And Harper gave the best house award on our light tour to this one...the inflatables had seen better days.

Day 354, Thursday, December 21
We had the Smith's over for dinner and to watch Christmas Vacation.

Day 355, Friday, December 22nd
We got a little bit of snow so the kids went out sledding while I began putting bows and ribbons on packages.
That's Presley, Ry, and Harper on a sled together outside the window.

Day 356, Saturday, December 23rd
We all got in our cozy jammies and went to view Wenatchee's Christmas lights.

Gingerbread Houses

This tradition is becoming one of my very favorites.

I thought this year that they all would like to do their own so I had bought a 4 piece mini village set.
They did these on Tuesday night.
Harper's village "toy shop".
She didn't get upset by this, but she really could have used some help.
Dave judged all 4 of the village houses.
Logan won and Ry came in second.

These were kind of small and they did want to work together in teams so I bought 2 bigger houses to decorate.
Logan chose to work with Harper, and Presley and Ry wanted to work together too.

They were put in separate rooms to create.  I added a few elements throughout their working time.

Both teams worked very well together.
Logan and Presley were both the leaders, but they did a great job of delegating jobs to Ry and Harper.
It was a quiet work hour.

I caught Ry eating the frosting quite a few times.

Dave printed off official gingerbread score cards.
And Logan and Harper won by 2 points.

Harper's creation of the wreath clock put them just those couple of points over Presley and Ry.
