Sunnyslope Track Meet

The kids love their P.E. Teacher Mr. Dotson.  Starting in 3rd grade students can participate in the Sunnyslope Track Meet with the top finishers going on to the District Track Meet at the high school.  This year Logan and Presley tried out for 4 events.  Logan did the running long jump, 4x100 relay race, the mile, and the 200.  Presley competed in the running long jump, 4x100 relay race, softball throw, and the 200.  It was a hot Wednesday afternoon.

This was the mile run--8 times around the small Sunnyslope track.  He took 2nd place with a time of 7:21.  First place was John Albert (here in black).

She's having a baby...

My sister Samee that is!!  After weeks of knowing and no more possibility of Samee trying to conceal the ever growing bump ...a well placed scarf can only last so long...Samee finally sent out a Mother's Day e-mail announcing that her and Nate will become parents in early September.

My parents, Amy and Thomas, and Dave and I have known since the first week of April.  Samee shared with all of them over dinner one night.  She shared with me the next week-end when I was down visiting grandma by showing me this picture...I'm a bit disappointed in myself that it took so long for it to click.

We sent Samee a card and some bows that next week and Logan signed the card "I was hoping it would be a boy, but I'll love her anyways".  Presley has surprised me with how well she's been able to keep a secret (we've been down to the Tri-Cities several times since knowing and she never uttered a peep).  I think she suggested Seraphina for a name.

I had my suspicions as early as Easter (March 31st).  As a matter of fact, I took both Amy and Dave to the side that day and told them I thought Samee was sporting a baby bump.  Amy denied that she knew anything--I even told her to check out Samee's boobs--they looked bigger to me, and Dave told me that "her and Nate are probably in love, celebrating their engagement, and eating and drinking too much.  Lay off her Leanna".  Ha!!  After I told Dave the news he actually said, "you were right all along".  I think I've got good baby radar.

I can't wait for Samee and Nate to experience the rest of this pregnancy and parenthood.  And I absolutely can't wait to have another sweet niece to hold and love on (and shop for)!!

Mother's Day: May 12, 2013

On Saturday night, I headed up to bed and stopped to check in on Presley and this is what I found (I took a picture and then moved Harper back to her own bed).  Love these two...

We decided to travel to the Tri-Cities for Mother's Day this year.  It's been a couple years since we've went there for this day, but my Mom is struggling with losing her Mom 3 weeks ago, and I just felt better about going than staying home.  Dave made us pancakes and I opened presents from the kids that they made at school (my present from Dave is set to arrive May 22nd).  Ry's class did not make presents this year because two children in the other kinder class has lost their mommy's this year.  A note was sent home to let us know.

Presley has been into poem writing the past few weeks.  She told me she found this one on-line at school and it made her think of me.  Also, on Presley's picture of me it appears I have a lot of facial hair I'm dealing with and Logan must think I'm getting a bit chunky and is offering to hike with me up to the top of Saddle Rock...ha ha!!

We stopped by Dave's parents house to deliver a present and wish Barb a happy Mother's day.

And off we went--headed to the Tri-Cities...

Amy and Thomas hosted a BBQ.  My mom and dad, grandpa, Grandma Kreider, and Kelin were there.  A lot of Thomas' family was there too.  The kids had fun with their cousins and played volleyball and jumped on the trampoline.  It was a fun day, but a short trip.  We got home about 9.

My "B" Post

We've had lots of other things going on besides Logan's soccer--I owe Rylan and Presley each their own soccer post too.  I started looking at my phone pics and discovered I have been taking a lot of "B" letter pictures.

"Box"

I struggled for a while with blogging because I used to keep lots of the kids' art, special letters, sports and class pictures, etc in a clear sheet protecter in our yearly scrapbook.  But since I'm not scrapbooking I started looking for a place to keep their cute stuff.  I decided on this box from Paper Coterie.  It will fit lots of their stuff, and it's deep so maybe I can even use it for more than one year.  Kids, if you're reading this someday and want to know where your soccer picture is from 2013, find this box.

"'Bux"
Right now, Starbucks is having a half price sale on their frappuccinos.  The kids are always asking for one whenever Dave and I get coffee.  So I surprised them last Friday after school and got them each their own frap--they thought they were big stuff.

"Bridges"
It's possible that the only thing Harper has learned in the past 8 months of dance are bridges.  She does them all. the. time.  One night, she had Dad, Logan, and Ry doing them too.  After Harper's Apple Blossom performance I was telling her what a good job she did and she said, "darn, I forgot to do my bridge at the end"....at no point in her dance is she supposed to stop and put herself in the bridge position.

Last Sunday we drove to Cashmere and had breakfast at the Anjou Bakery.  It was a beautiful morning.

Washington State Cup Tournament: April 26-28th

What a wet, muddy, slippery, and cold week-end to spend in Issaquah....and what a great and fun week-end to watch premier soccer!!

These were brand new white when we arrived.  We had to buy Harper new shoes at Target cause these were so wet.

Me, Ry, Logan, Colby and Harper headed over on Friday after school.  Presley had a birthday party to go to that evening and Dave was finishing up work.  After we won on Friday evening, they decided to drive over and join us for Saturday's game.

This tournament was a single elimination tournament so once you lost, you were done.  I had made a hotel reservation for Friday only and we scrambled to find a hotel on Saturday night.  But, we'd do it all again to watch our Wenatchee boys WIN the whole tournament!!  Woo Hoo!!

Friday night we played a Tacoma team and won 4-1.  Saturday we played an Eastern team, XIFA, and won in a nail biter 3-2.  And Sunday, for the championship, we played RSA Elite, a team we've lost to twice, tied once, and won once.  We won over RSA 2-0.  It was so much fun to watch awesome play all week-end long.

So proud of these boys...can't wait to see them compete together in the years to come.
