The Pacific Northwest had a major heat wave the weekend of June 25th-July 4th.
Lots of temperature records were broke around Washington State, even in Wenatchee, where temps rose to 117 degrees.
All outdoor activities, sports practices, farmers market, YMCA camps, and even the 4th of July activities were cancelled. Restaurants and coffee shops closed early for the day due to extreme heat.
It was definitely hot and uncomfortable here, but we have air conditioning and a pool. Many areas in the Northwest are not prepared for that type of heat.
Our area and others places around the state opened up cooling centers where people could gather and stay as long as they wanted in order to stay out of the extreme heat.
