One of Logan's high school teammates wanted to put together one last tournament before he left for college. Originally, it was supposed to be the same one that Ry was playing in in the Portland/Vancouver area. That seemed great, and really lucky that the boys would be in the same area so we could all go to watch play.
BUT
It turned out that Logan's group was actually playing further south, in Salem.
So Presley, Harper and I went to watch Ry in Portland.
And Dave drove on with Colby and Logan to Salem.
We followed the boys until Portland.
Logan was texting me about the Women's US game, and teasing Harper about not traveling with them.
The waking up at 7:30, on the road by 9 was a bit much for Presley.
She was a little dramatic about having to be up that early in the summer.
Neither or our hotels were great!
Dave sent Logan and Colby walking to the gas station for some air freshener....this is what they came back with.
And our room's toilet handle broke off on the first night and we told the front desk but they couldn't fix it until the next day. So we had to remove the toilet lid and manually flush it.
Rylan and Harper slept on a sofa bed together.
(I don't know how much longer they'll be willing to do that.)
Despite the crummy sleeping conditions, the boys both walked away Champions!
They both had games on Friday night.
Logan's team won by so much that he was put in as forward for a little bit in the second half.
Ry's team also won their Friday night game by quite a bit too.
He scored 2 goals in this game.
Presley and Harper played at half time.
The boys each had 2 games on Saturday.
Logan won one and lost one.
Rylan tied both of his.
Ry had to make both of his penalty kicks (one in each game) to get the tie!
We went to the mail between games on Saturday.
Logan's team played just one game on Sunday....the Championship game!
They won 2-1
Target sponsored this tournament.
Rylan's team had to win their morning game to make it to the championship game.
Their morning game went into PK's.
And they won 5-4.
A header ball pass.
His PK shot.
Because Logan playing in the mid-morning, they had enough time to drive to Portland to watch Ry's championship game. They made it just in time for kick off.
Ry's team must have been in the harder bracket because they won 6-0.
He was the goal leader for this tournament (9 goals in 5 games).
And then I followed Dave all the way home.
Two Champs at home!
Later that night...2 swimming and 2 playing Spike Ball
What a great week-end of soccer!
