Logan's First Varsity Game (5-4-18)

I don't really think that Logan would consider this his first Varsity soccer game, but its the first time he stepped on the field as a player during a Varsity game.

He had been asked by the coach if he wanted to continue to practice with the team on Monday, and of course he said yes, but Logan didn't know if he would even touch the field during a playoff game.

Logan was pulled up to practice with the Varsity team several teams during the season too, but only ever played in JV games.

It's Wenatchee's tradition to let juniors and seniors make up the bulk of the Varsity roster.
And truthfully, that's been a hard lesson for Logan to learn and accept.
Logan has played at the highest level possible in the valley, at the state level, and at the national level.
But there is something very special about playing for your own high school and we have a great next couple of years to watch him.

It sure was fun to watch him warm up and get in the last 12 minutes of the game.

We knew he was going in when we saw him start to take a few jogs and stretches up and down the side lines.
We were on this side because we knew if he got in, it would be during the second half, and that's the goal side he'd be defending.

His substitution run in.
The senior goalie is a really nice young man.
He had his hand raised to give Logan a high five.
And then they did a quick hug/pat on the back.
It sounds silly, but it was a little like the senior handing the reigns over to Logan.

And he was playing goalkeeper for the Varsity Wenatchee Panthers.

He didn't have any saves (West Valley never really got it close to goal), but Logan did have a nice kick.

Their season ended the following Tuesday with a loss to Sunnyside.
The coaches personally told Logan how excited they are to have him on their team for his junior and senior year.

We've got lots to look forward to!
