Harper and I travelled to Denver, CO together for her volleyball tournament at the end of January.
I knew I'd probably be flying alone and didn't want to deal with the unknown passes in January, so we left from the Pasco Airport on Thursday afternoon.
We had a short layover in Salt Lake City and then made it to Denver about 9 PM.
I knew our hotel was close to the convention center.
This is the front of the convention center from our hotel room.
Our team was scheduled to play in the afternoon wave so our first game wasn't until 3 PM
We woke up Friday morning and took a brisk walk through downtown Denver.
It was very very cold but we didn't have to deal with snow or ice on our walks downtown or on our walks to the convention center.
Day 1: We went 1-2
All 3 games were very competitive, which is always nice for confidence, growth and progress.
Day 2 was another afternoon start time.
We went 3-0 today! A great day of volleyball!
Harper got to wear the gold chain for player of the game!
Stretching her jersey out.
On Sunday we were up early for the morning wave of games.
Harper didn't know what happened to the gold chain to give to the next player of the game, so I walked back to our hotel while they were warming up and found it laying on her bed.
I texted Harper I found it!
I packed us up and got our suitcases down to the hotel holding area.
We had to win to continue on, but we lost a very close game in 3 sets.
They had to ref the next game so I walked around the convention center.
I kept seeing this giant bear from the outside on our walks from the hotel and found him looking into the convention center too.
This weekend also happened to be the NFL AFC championship weekend and the Broncos hosted the game in their stadium, which was about 5 miles from the convention center.
I was sad to be done early on Sunday, but also glad to be able to get to the airport about 30 miles away while everyone was either at the game or in their homes watching.
We saw lots of broncos jerseys and spray painted blue and orange hair this weekend.
The Broncos stadium from our Uber ride on the way to the airport.
The Broncos lost to the Patriots today.
We flew direct back to Pasco and arrived after a late departure to de-ice the plane.
We got back to Wenatchee about midnight.
Harper went to school on Monday morning, but unfortunately was sick and stayed home on Tuesday.
Their practices were cancelled this week because the coaches and several players were dealing with sickness for the rest of the week!
