And he was also named one of Week 23's WIAA Student of the Week

Day 51, Thursday, February 20th

We'd been waiting on this to come out!
Ry:  First Team All Conference
His coach called him Monday night to tell him and congratulate him.
He told him he was one of only 2 players that received unanimous first team votes, and also received one coach vote for player of the year.

Day 52, Friday, February 21st

Grandma and Papa and Archie and Tillie came to visit us this week-end.
Tillie made a new friend (while Papa was still sleeping downstairs).

Day 53, Saturday, February 22nd

Rylan's last home game of his senior season!
They won Riverside 62-35 to advance to the state tournament.

Grandma and Papa stayed to watch Gonzaga play and then decided to stay one more night so we played some cards.  Papa beat us all tonight.

Day 54, Sunday, February 23rd
Harper's HALF birthday!
Half donuts with Grandma and Papa before they left to head back home.

Day 55, Monday, February 24th

Cashmere had a state championship wrestler so the student body lined the hallways to clap for him as he walked in.  I found Ry cheering for him on the video they posted.

Day 56, Tuesday, February 25th

We had a rain and wind storm tonight that knocked our power out for about an hour.
Dave got the camping lantern out.

Valentine's game in Royal today.

Day 46, Saturday, February 15th

At Logan's studio apartment in Capital Hill
Harper had a tournament in Auburn this weekend so we went to visit Logan at his new apartment and then he joined us to watch her play today.

Day 47, Sunday, February 16th
Dave and Ry stayed in a snowy Wenatchee while we were in Auburn.

Day 48, Monday February 17th

Harper and I went shopping in the University District before her final games today.

Day 49, Tuesday, February 18th

Rylan was honored tonight for becoming a member of Cashmere's 1000 point club.

Rylan's 1000th Varsity Point

Dave started using a stats app named Easy Stats way back when Logan was playing high school basketball.   It was what his coach at Wenatchee High School used and we were sort of interested in how it worked so Dave started tracking and taking stats with it.

So, he used it through Presley's JV season, through Ry's AAU, Central Washington Select, Eastern Washington Elite, Cashmere Junior Varsity, and Cashmere's Varsity seasons.  He's gotten really good at it, starting with just taking stats for our kids, and then moving on to taking full stats for everyone, and now even takes team stats for the opposing team (assists, turnovers, rebounds).

Ry averaged 10 points per game his sophomore year (first year on Varsity, 2022-2023) and 17 points his junior year (2023-2024).  He scored 211 points his sophomore season and 357 his junior season.

We knew going into this senior season that he needed 432 points on the year to reach that 1000 point mark.  Dave always sends the game stats to Rylan, but he doesn't have the app so he can't track season and past season averages, he can only see individual game stats.

The final time Cashmere played Naches Valley I saw Ry's coach talking to Dave.  He told Dave that they'd been tracking Rylan's points for a few weeks now and felt certain they could get him to 1000 points.  Of course, we knew at this point (he scored 28 points that game bringing his total to 368) that he was only 64 points away, so it was really a matter of which game he'd hit it in.  Dave told his coach that we hadn't and weren't planning to say anything to Rylan, that we didn't want to get in his head about a certain number that he needed to reach.   But somehow, word must have gotten around because Ry knew he was close.  He asked me how far off he was and I told him to just try to get his average over the rest of the season and he'd probably reach it.  But he knew going into the home game against Wapato that he needed 21 points.

The newspaper took this picture right after the announcers told the crowd that he made his 1000th point.  Thumb up to the crowd!
He got it early in the 4th quarter, after a teammates missed shot, he got the rebound and scored the 50th point on his way to 28 total points.  They won 70-61.

He also had 2 dunks this night.
And Presley was watching on our NFHS app

I had told grandma that Ry was 21 points away but I didn't tell anyone else just in case he didn't quite get it this game.  But it was really neat to have it happen on our home court.

Rylan's JV coach (and math teacher), Mr. Boyd.
His dad was the varsity coach Rylan's sophomore year.
He loves Rylan and loves watching him play, and is also a member of the 1000 point club.

The Cashmere newspaper

He was honored the next week at our home game with a banner and we walked out to the center of the court.
And with his coaches

And his golden ball, which arrived a few days late.
Displayed on his wall in his room.

Ry is the 11th member of Cashmere's 1000 Point Club.
What makes this so special is that he was able to accomplish this in only 3 seasons as a varsity player, and with only playing 2 playoff games.

Really special accomplishment!

Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 6 (2025)

 Day 36, Wednesday, February 5th

Ry's dunk vs. Naches Valley on 1/28.
A student photographer from NV messaged this to Rylan today.

Day 37, Thursday, February 6th

Somehow, we all ended up on a FaceTime together

Day 38, Friday, February 7th

Occasionally, the SCAC conference will publish their top scorers.  Ry has been in the top 5 all season, this week he took over 4th place.

Day 39, Saturday, February 8th

Cashmere had their local AAU tournament and Ry earned some money by reffing or being the clock manager.
Dave peeked in on him and he was running the clock this game.
He worked all day Saturday and Sunday, and made a good chunk of money.

Day 40, Sunday, February 9th

Harper had a local tournament today.
I missed the whole Super Bowl but her team did make it to the final game and lost the championship.

Day 41, Monday, February 10th

Harper had her first drive with her instructor.  Dave was there to pick her up and took a pic of her driving in the parking lot.
She did great though.

Day 42, Tuesday, February 11th

Rylan made his 1000th point tonight for his high school career.
Vs. Wapato, 4th quarter, he made the 50th point for his team off of a rebound of a teammate's missed shot.
This was one of his goals this year.
Ry wears number 21 and he needed 21 points on 2/11 to do it (he had at least 2 more games in case it didn't happen), and he ended the game with 28 points total.

He also had 2 dunks tonight :)

Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 5 (2025)

 Day 29, Wednesday, January 29th

Harper is signed up for driver's training so she was finally able to get her permit.
She drove home from the mailbox.
I told her I was going to take a picture and she turned to smile at me, and I quickly told her "keep your eyes on the road" :)

Day 30, Thursday, January 30th

Logan is moving to Seattle for a new job.
Dave bought him a tool set for him to have at his apartment.

Day 31, Friday, January 31st

Ry's game at Royal tonight.
They lost to the #2 ranked team in the state by only 10.

Day 32, Saturday, February 1st

Presley and Kel surprised us by showing up to Rylan's game in Wapato.
He had a great crowd here tonight, including Mylee, Ryan, Thomas, Joe and Lanae.

Day 33, Sunday, February 2nd

Sunday relaxation time.

Day 34, Monday, February 3rd

Ry in chemistry class today.
Harper's friend sniped this picture of him and posted it on Snap Chat.

Day 35, Tuesday, February 4th

A picture of Chewy that I sent to Presley too.
