Apple Blossom Youth Parade

Saturday morning was the Apple Blossom Youth Parade.
Stage Kids had a spot in the line up and so did Sunnyslope Elementary.
I walked with Ry and Harper and the Sunnyslope crowd.
And Presley walked 11 spots ahead of us with Stage Kids.
Presley didn't know she was walking as Thing 2 until Friday night.

But she had no shame in her youth parade game...

Dave tried to drop us off at the line up area of the parade, but he couldn't get very close so she was a little embarrassed walking in costume to her meet up area.
But once she found the other Stage Kids and saw Thing 1 and Cat in the Hat in costume, she was totally in her element.

This picture was texted to me later.

Ry, Harper and I found the Sunnyslope group.
Ry and Harper both rode their scooters with their friends.

At one point the blonde girl behind Ry got tired of holding the sign, so Ry gave her his scooter and let her ride while he walked and held the banner.

I will add that by the end of the parade route, I was carrying my nice camera (I was taking yearbook pictures),  Harper's scooter, her helmet (the strap broke mid-parade) and my jacket because it got a little warm by noon. I'm not sure I looked very festive at the finish line.

They gave out ice cream sandwiches at the end and Dave met us in the Hastings parking lot to pick us up (the starting point is not the same as the ending so it's easier this way).

Happy May Day

Back in February, Presley and her friend Ella tried to start up a new club at their middle school.  The "Philanthropic Falcons" would have been a service/community outreach club.  They had ideas for fundraising and how they would use that money to help the Wenatchee community.  We had a meeting with the principal Mr. Goveia and, because both girls are involved with ASB, he suggested that they do these types of activities under the ASB umbrella rather than starting up a whole new club.  However, they just decided to do a community project on their own.

One of Ella's ideas was to make May Day baskets for Central Washington Hospital.
Ella and her grandma invited Presley over on Thursday to make them, and today they delivered them to the patients at the hospital.
Their friends Kaydie and Lauren, and Ella's sister Ava Jo joined them.

They were allowed to go in all the rooms except the maternity rooms (this is where Presley was most excited to visit).
They met with the volunteer coordinator.
And made their deliveries...

I hope these little baskets brightened the patients day.
And I hope Presley always has a heart for service.

Lea's Day-Lea's, Week 17 (2016)

Day 113, Friday, April 22nd
A little Friday afternoon swimming.

Day 114, Saturday, April 23rd
Ry went to a friends' house after his game and as they were leaving to bring him back home, a big gust of wind slammed the door on his hand.  The friends' dad is a doctor and told me over the phone that he thought Ry's fingers were broken (he couldn't move them or clench a fist), and that I should take him to the ER. The x-ray showed no broken bones.  It started feeling a little better each day.  All good news!!

Logan took this picture of a picture.
Dave and Logan were out of town at Logan's State Cup Qualifier in Spokane.
This was one of his saves.

Day 115, Sunday, April 24th
Logan's soccer team.
They were undefeated this State Cup Qualifier and earned a first place seed in the State Cup next week-end.

Day 116, Monday, April 25th
I bought these two foam airplanes and the boys had fun flying them off the deck.

Day 117, Tuesday,  April 26th
Dropping off Ella at her house after Seussical practice.
They have new chicks and they named this one Gem after our Presley.

Day 118, Wednesday, April 27th
I started working on the lobby decor for Seussical.
I like the way my truffla trees are turning out.

Day 119, Thursday, April 28th
Harper making a birthday card for Piper (harper spelled it Pipeper) for a birthday party on Saturday.

Princess Dresses and Pool Dreams

Samee e-mailed me earlier this week to let me know that Miryn is going through a dress phase and that she loves to wear Harper's passed down dresses.  When Samee asks her what she wants to wear in the morning, she yells "princess".  Oh, this just delights me.

(Harper in this dress, first day of pre-school.  Miryn was actually born the very next day)

And the POOL is OPENED!
Workers came out on Tuesday and cleaned it, added the chemicals, and turned the heater on.
The kids were so excited after school but the water was still too cold.
They dipped their feet in and splashed a little bit.

Wednesday was 85 degrees here and the pool warmed up to 73.
That's all it took for all four of them to jump in (Ry only for a short time)

On Thursday, it was already up to 80.
Ry was so sad he had to get out early to go to soccer practice.
(A Presley sandwich)

So if these first few days of swimming are any indication of what my summer will sound like...

"Mom my goggles are too tight (too loose, too big, keep slipping, not working)"
"Mom, can you fix my goggles?"
"Mom, I forgot my towel".
"Mom, Logan is pulling my leg."
"Mom, Logan is cheating (while racing)."
"Mom, can we turn the waterfall on?"
"Mom, can we blow up our floaties."
"Mom, Logan is not being a nice whale."
"Mom, Presley won't play mermaids with me."
"Mom, I'm too cold."
"Mom,  call me Melody, that's my mermaid name now"
"Mom, watch Logan be my boat."
"Mom, I don't think I need to take a shower this summer."

We're ready for summer!
